Philosophy Minors and Specializations

Minor and Specialization

Students may also elect to complete a minor in Philosophy. If you choose to minor in Philosophy, you need to complete six philosophy courses. The minor aims to give students the freedom to pursue their own philosophical interests, while ensuring breadth of knowledge of either the history of philosophy or contemporary philosophy. The philosophy faculty would work with you to select courses that complement your major, and allow you to reflect on the presuppositions of your major from a philosophical perspective.

The Philosophy Department also offers the Ethics Specialization. The Specialization in Ethics aims to provide you with

  1. a philosophical foundation for the understanding of ethics,
  2. a broad interdisciplinary approach to contemporary ethical issues, and
  3. the opportunity to complete a research project in ethics under faculty supervision.
