91会所鈥檚 Ancilla College

Vision and Mission

Ancilla College will provide an education distinguished in its ability to prepare transformative leaders for service to the world. The college will be a great Catholic institution dedicated to achieving excellence in learning, which is achieved through teaching, research, and scholarly activities in the Franciscan and liberal arts tradition.

Accomplishments

As Ancilla College enters it’s fourth year in collaboration with 91会所 and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC), we have sustained growth, retained students, and increased our enrollment in each of the last four years. Additionally, Ancilla College has:

  • Implemented two 4-year bachelor programs (Nursing and Elementary Education) graduated Ancilla’s first-ever bachelor's degree-seeking students.
  • Developed a culture of intention, mission, and compassion with the PHJC, the community, and our students.
  • Hydroponics funding through the PBS Michiana (WINT) special, and public relations efforts have been pivotal to the overall growth of the agriculture program.
  • Ancilla College hosted the inaugural Women of Marian Ancilla Chapter event and Life after College Sports event.
  • Other events that have had significant impact to our overall brand recognition includes the Charger Challenge, convocation, family weekend, Changing Lives Scholarship Dinner, and other events that celebrate the college, success, and partnerships.
  • Major success was achieved by developing and implementing the Ancilla Legacy Wall with the PHJC.
  • Ancilla College continues to pursue developing robust relationships and partnerships in the community and throughout the South Bend area.
  • Ancilla College has been successful in meeting our fundraising goals.

Challenges

Ancilla College drives a culture focused on our mission and our Franciscan Values, vital to the growth and sustainability of the college. As we grow and welcome more people into the Ancilla family, we accept the challenge to better communicate with our students, campus partners, and local community with transparency and openness, letting our faith and Franciscan values guide us.

Goals and Objectives

  • Continue to expand enrollment and increase retention as we create a student-centered and focused campus, providing intensive support to students personally, mentally, academically, and in their faith.
  • We will grow our bachelor programs and look to partner and increase educational attainment through programming that meets community needs.
  • In our effort to be more fiscally sustainable, we will endeavor to be more equitable to all parties.
  • Follow through with a brand transition from MUAC to MU Plymouth as it will bring clarity, consistency and value.

Why This Matters to Marian's Mission

Ancilla was founded by the PHJCs for accessibility to higher education in our rural community. The foundation of any thriving rural community is access to higher education opportunities. So that students can attain a high-quality education and return to their communities and serve others in transformational leadership. Thus, also providing for social/economic mobility and increased quality of life. Ancilla’s (4-year) programs focus on the service and care of others in the form of developing high-quality teachers and nurses—both of which are highly needed in all communities but especially rural areas. Ancilla is also engaged in leadership development with non-traditional populations and is developing programs to help build leadership capacity in nursing, local government, and manufacturing. Our manufacturing expertise has influenced the creation of the LEAD Program for Leadership in Manufacturing. And Ancilla has worked with numerous community partners, focused on educating for frontline and executive leadership roles.
